The Black Lives Matter movement is the civil rights fight of our generation. Through the power of protest, it forced a nation to confront its long, ugly history of racial inequality and inspired activists around the worldwide.

The labor movement inspires me because of its long, rich history and hard-won lessons that continue resonating to this day. Seeing the power of workers—especially young people of color–topple giants like Amazon and Starbucks fills me with so much hope.

Georgia Gilmore, not only for the incredible contributions she made to the Civil Rights movement, but because her work illustrates that there is a place for everyone and any skill in the movement.
