At re:power, we believe in the power of bold, transformative leadership rooted in justice, care, and community. Today, we celebrate six incredible years of such leadership from our Executive Director, Karundi Williams.
Since stepping into this role in 2019, Karundi has reshaped re:power into the vibrant learning home it is today for thousands of organizers across the country. Her leadership is marked by deep clarity, courageous vision, and an unwavering commitment to creating spaces that center BIPOC organizers unapologetically.
At this year’s Camp re:power in Charlotte, North Carolina, Karundi addressed nearly 200 BIPOC organizers from 34 states with a message that captured her essence as a leader and visionary:
So I made a decision: If the space I needed didn’t exist, I was going to build it…
re:power is a space where we unapologetically center BIPOC organizers like YOU.
Because I believe the work you’re doing in your communities is what will save us.”

This is the heart of Karundi’s leadership. It’s the reason our community leaves every convening reenergized, inspired, and connected to a shared vision of multiracial democracy.
Under Karundi’s guidance, we’ve achieved major milestones:
- Doubled our annual budget
- More than doubled our staff size
- Trained over 10,000 organizers nationwide
- Launched our first-ever Women of Color Leadership Cohort
- Built transformational partnerships with funders and grassroots groups
- Recommitted our mission to pro-Black, liberatory organizing
Karundi’s vision is grounded in abundance, interdependence, and collective action. She dares to imagine—and actively build—a future where the toxic values of white supremacy (scarcity, individualism, competition) are replaced with liberatory practices centered in care, justice, and shared power. A future where community leaders aren’t just elected—they co-govern.
💜 Join us in celebrating Karundi’s 6th anniversary at re:power by investing in the bold, liberatory vision she continues to lead 💜
