Overview
Data Analytics Camp (DAC) equips progressive leaders with the cutting-edge data and analytics skills necessary to support electoral campaigns and issue based organizing. Applicants will be asked to commit to full participation of an intensive 5-day in-person training. We work to accommodate practitioners at various points in their organizing journey and pull from best practices in data, analytics, engineering and organizing to help campaigners and activists build winning online and offline campaigns.

Who is this course for?
- Folks who are data-curious, whether or not data is a part of your formal role
- Organizers and field staff who want to learn how to use data to inform their campaigns
- Folks who want to become future Data Managers & Directors: Past students have successfully pivoted to data manager & data director roles after completing this course.
- Organizers looking to build community in-person with other data folks—DAC is an in-person intensive program.
Ideal applicants come from all walks of life. The majority of successful applicants have experience in electoral or issue organizing, can articulate the import of data analytics to strategic decision making and have a clear understanding of the ways power-privilege shape the progressive space.
Here are some attributes shared by all our applicants:
- Technical Aptitude: Whether you have experience working directly with data or not, we are interested in organizers who are able to pick up new technical skills quickly and proficiently. If you like spreadsheets and lists, or investigating innovative ways of organizing, you may be a good fit.
- Organizing Insight: You don’t need to be a professional politico, but we’re looking for applicants with experience doing organizing work on the ground. That work can be tied to grassroots, electoral, and/or issue organizing. We seek to support organizers who are currently part of an organizing effort or are seeking to build one.
- Dedication to Inclusive Politics and Intersectional Solutions: At re:power, we center race, class, gender and sexuality across all our trainings—it’s part of our practice of inclusive politics. We encourage organizers to be open to new ideas regarding inclusive politics, especially from their fellow organizers who will reflect our diverse communities.
Course Expectations
This is an intensive 5-day in-person course with high expectations for participation.
During training sections and breakouts we ask participants to be present, share verbally, and participate in breakout group discussion. Participants will be asked to work in groups to complete a group-based assignment. While some time will be structured for group projects, groups are expected to work together outside of class time as-needed to complete the assignment.
There are limited spaces available for participants in this course. If you feel you are not able to meet course expectations, we ask that you do not apply.

Please note, the virtual Data Strategy course does not include the engineering components of DAC, which are offered as separate virtual offerings later in the year.
