Overview
This is meant to be a guided conversation, not a training. Participants will use this space to hear from fellow organizers and campaigners, and leave with a clear understanding of how AI was used this year. What folks tried, what worked, what didn’t, and areas where people are deliberately choosing not to use it.
Together, we’ll explore how people are navigating the ethical and strategic questions this fast-changing technology raises, how it intersects with fights against oligarchs and data centers, and how we can prepare for the 2027 tech landscape.
This conversation builds upon the “Power, Not Panic” op-ed by Lee Anderson and Oluwakemi Oso-Johnson for the Forge. Whether we like it or not, use it or not, AI is changing the way organizers run campaigns and do their work. This session is a chance to understand and contribute to what the current state of play is, and help find community to navigate this technology.
Who is this course for?
- Movement organizers who are trying to figure out where AI fits in their work, or whether it should.
- Folks interested in sharing and hearing about use cases, and what movement’s relationship to this technology should look like.
Why does this matter now?
Whether or not we like this technology and how it’s being rolled out, it’s already changing the way people organize. As we wrap up the year, it’s a good time to understand how it was implemented in 2026, to help make decisions as we plan for 2027.
