Fellow Bios

Alexis (she/her) is an experienced organizer, policy wonk, and data enthusiast. Alexis graduated from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, where she was trained in political science and advocacy. After completing her masters, Alexis wanted to expand her horizon within the public sector. Since then, she has worked with both government and nonprofit organizations to strengthen the decision making power of people. Alexis currently works as a Senior Program Manager for one of the largest labor organizations in the country, Service Employees International Union, also known as SEIU.
She is passionate about serving communities of color and harnessing data to create lasting solutions.

A proud native of Los Angeles, Alexis Blades (she/her) brings curiosity, compassion, and a global perspective to her work in the nonprofit sector. Her commitment to social change and cultural understanding was sparked during her two years of Peace Corps service in Kakiri, Uganda—a village she fondly remembers for its hospitality and unforgettable mangoes.
With over seven years of experience in data systems, project management, and impact evaluation, Alexis currently serves as Data Manager at ABFE. In this role, she helps build and sustain data-driven practices that support ABFE’s mission to strengthen philanthropy’s investment in Black communities. Alexis is passionate about leveraging technology and data to advance racial equity and social impact. Her expertise includes Salesforce configuration, cross-team collaboration, and designing processes that support learning and strategic decision-making across organizations.
